Holistic Detox: Day 1

Meal Plan
Breakfast: stewed fruit, lemon tea and 500 ml water

Morning Tea: Green Juice and 500 ml water

Lunch: Watercress Soup and 100 g of protein (tofu, turkey or chicken)

Afternoon Tea: a handful of nuts and 500 ml water

Dinner: Pumpkin and Tofu Curry

The Recipes
Stewed Fruit: chop and boil 2 pears and 2 apples. Leave the skin on. Once cooked, drain water and mash. sprinkle a little cinnamon on top

Lemon water is just boiled water with 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice. It’s best to have this before eating anything.

Green Juice
If you don’t have a juicer, you might want to buy a fresh juice or substitute with a piece of fruit. You can experiment here so long as its green! Great combos are kale, cucumber and apple; spinach, mint and apple

Watercress Soup
1 bunch of watercress
1 potato
1 onion
1 litre of vegetable stock

Finely chop the onion and dice the potato and boil in the stock until cooked.
Wash the watercress and remove stems, chop finely.
Add the cress to the stock soup, turn the heat down and simmer until the cress is wilted.
Blend the soup, add a little salt and pepper and lemon juice. Voila!

Pumpkin and Tofu Curry
1/2 a butternut pumpkin
300 g firm tofu
3 cups of rocket, spinach or kale
Lemon juice
Olive oil
Curry Powder
Coriander

Heat oven full blast (250 degrees)

Chop pumpkin and tofu into cubes and pour into an oven proof dish

In a separate bowl whisk half a cup of olive oil and a tablespoon of curry powder

Stir marinade through the pumpkin and tofu (the tofu will crumble at this point, but not to worry)

Bake for 45 mins to 1 hour or until pumpkin is cooked through

Remove from the oven and stir in your chosen green vegetable, 1/4 cup of lemon juice and coriander

Serves 2- 4 people

Holistic Detox Routine
Morning
20- 60 minute walk
5 to 20 minutes of meditation
1-3 pages of automatic writing (optional)

Evening
Write down 10 things you are grateful for
Have a bath with Epsom salts or a hot shower and go to bed early
Instead of watching telly or reading a trash mag try reading something inspirational like Shakti Gawaiin’s “Creative Visualisation” or Thicht Naht Hahn’s “Peace at Every Step” . Sleep tight!
