Holistic Detox- Day 2

Hi Friends,

Hope everybody is feeling well and happy. Today as we move in to day 2 of the detox, we may be experiencing symptoms such as nausea, headaches, irritation and anxiety as the toxins leave our bodies. If you wish to continue, just remember, you’re doing your body a service by taking a break from sugar, gluten and dairy (oh, and of course booze and caffeine)…so just see how you go.

Morning Ritual

5-20 minutes of meditation

3 pages of journalling

a walk 20- 60 mins

Evening Ritual

write down 10 things you’re grateful for

have a relaxing bath

go to bed early

The Meal Plan

Breakfast- lemon tea, fruit salad

M/Tea- Green juice and 500ml water

Lunch- Spinach and Potato Soup, 500 ml water

A/Tea- Herbal Tea and a handful of nuts

Dinner- Roast Comfort Chicken, Cauliflower Mash and Steamed Greens

The Recipes

Spinach and Potato Soup

1 Bag of Baby Spinach Leaves

1 onion

1 small potato

1 litre of vegetable stock

1. chop the onion and potato finely

2. add the stock to a saucepan with the onion and potato and cook until the potato is soft

3. add the spinach

4. stir till the spinach is wilted and then blend soup

Roast Comfort Chicken

This recipe belongs to my mother in-law Monica. It’s the ultimate comfort food.

1 whole free range chicken

2 onions

6 cloves of garlic

cajun spice

1. preheat the oven to 200 degrees

2. finely chop the onions (leave the garlic unpeeled) and place in an oven proof dish

3. place the chicken on top of the onion and garlic, sprinkle liberally with the spice, cover tightly with foil and roast for 2 1/2 hours

4. Once the chicken is cooked, carve and put back in the oven uncovered for a few minutes to brown

Mashed Cauliflower

Boil a whole head of cauliflower, chopped into small pieces or a bag of frozen cauliflower will to. Once cooked through, drain water, add a little olive oil, salt and pepper and mash

Steamed Greens- can be any variety of greens beans, spinach, kale, broccoli. I steam them in foil with a little water, olive oil and lemon juice until wilted; not for too long in the oven, ten or so minutes
