“What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create.” Buddha

The first thing to do when you get what you really, really want is to notice it. So often, we are so caught up in focusing on the next thing, that we fail to realise we have achieved a major goal, accomplishment, or heart’s desire.

One way to do this is to break your life down into seven year cycles. 0-7, 7-14, 14-21, 21-28, 28-35, 35-42, 42-49, 49-56, and so on. Look at how every seven years have been different and what you have accomplished in those  periods. You’ll be amazed at how much has happened.

Sometimes we are so busy living our lives that we don’t notice how much we already have.

Shine like the whole Universe is yours.” Rumi

Often, when we achieve something major, we run the risk of feeling like we don’t deserve it. You do deserve the gift, whatever it is- destiny says that it’s meant to be yours. Listen to that small, depleting voice that warns, “I don’t deserve this”, “Somebody might take this away from me”, “I’m a fraud,”- that voice may be trying to protect you, but that voice is not your advocate. You deserve success. You deserve happiness. You deserve to live the life of your dreams.“In my defencelessness, my safety lies.” A Course in Miracles

Just be grateful and say thank you. Be open to receiving that which is wonderful.

Hi Friends,

As a Creativity Coach/Teacher/Writer/Director, I am often asked, “What is creativity?” The answer I give is a quote direct from Creativity Master Teacher, Julia Cameron, “Creativity is the natural order of life. Life is energy: pure creative energy.” I believe my role as a teacher/coach is to help and inspire students to get into the flow of their creativity- to be “in the zone”. To watch a student be so immersed in their own ideas and the actualization of those ideas is both incredible and a privilege.

This January, I will be teaching a five day workshop (19th-23rd) in Newcastle, NSW, entitled “Unleashing Your Creativity”. Putting this workshop together has been so much fun, and the first source I have turned to is Julia Cameron, who’s ground breaking book “The Artist’s Way” truly changed my life forever and thousands of others. I am often asked if I am working for Julia (I’m not and I’ve never met her) as I’m always telling people to buy that book if they want to conquer fears, become empowered and discover and inhabit their true artistry. “The Artist’s Way” , for those of you who aren’t familiar with it is a twelve week workbook where students read essays, do weekly creative tasks and devote time to their self care and recovery in order to break through negativity and blocks. It truly is an extraordinary process, that if students can commit to it they will see miracles within themselves and in the outer world. You literally start seeing things differently and come to understand that creativity is a necessary component for the soul.

Conglomerating my own material for the five day intensive has had me take an inventory of my own creative journey. I believe, to truly achieve as an artist, you need to have a firm understanding of yourself, your history, your beliefs and an acceptance of your struggles. There is necessary work to be done in order to see your creativity flourish and be set into the world, hopefully to make it a better place.

My five day intensive will include automatic writing exercises, visual storytelling and exploration, physical law of attraction exercises, mind mapping, flow dreaming, visualisations and meditations as well as a practical “nuts and bolts” approach to how they are actually going to fulfil their creative aspirations. Students will learn how to be kind to themselves, hear their needs and release unwanted baggage. Had I not done The Artist’s Way, I wonder where I would be today. I credit that book with helping me finish plays, start companies and produce my own work, without waiting for something to magically appear.

When you understand that creativity is spirituality in action, and that you are the engine for making things happen, then you can step into your artistry. Everyone is creative. As Sir Ken Robinson says, “Creativity is now as important as education and literacy.” So, be good to your soul. Have fun. Read Julia’s book. Buy a sketch book and draw with crayons. Go to the movies. Listen to Shostakovich. Think, explore, write, create. Live fully by seeing the beauty of the world and adding to it. Love Claire xx

Radical Shifts of Perception

Hi Friends,

I just googled the word Perception and here’s how Wikipedia defined it: “Perception (from the Latin perception, percipio) is the organization, identification, and interpretation of sensory information in order to represent and understand the environment.” And then, more pages follow…but let us consider that first statement, which is very powerful. The way we see and interpret the world around us is directly linked to the way we think and feel about ourselves, and then the way we think and feel about ourselves is a direct reflection of how we behave towards others and exist in the world.

In Marianne Williamson’s recent “Soul Sunday” discussion with Oprah, she defined a miracle (referring to the teachings from A Course in Miracles) as “a shift in perception from fear to love.” A Course in Miracles teaches us, that if we are willing to change the way we look at and perceive the world around us (and ourselves within it) we can radically change our reality from fear to love, from darkness to light.

This is such an unbelievably important and insightful interview (you can watch it by clicking onto OWN full episodes on the net) and if you haven’t seen it already, I can’t recommend it enough. Marianne says, “If I’m not happy, there’s something I’m not looking at correctly” and that “We are either walking in the direction of fear, or the direction of love.” Love is not to be confused with romantic love, but rather positive energy, fear is darkness, love is light. There’s nothing in between. You’re either operating from a place of fear or love; if you’re feeling happy, you’re walking the path of love, when you’re feeling stressed, anxious, angry or depressed, you’re walking the path of fear.

This is my third attempt at studying A Course in Miracles. I first picked up the text in 2005 and again in 2006 and found it daunting. I was overwhelmed and a little spooked by it. Simply not ready. However, now that I myself now fully understand what it means to have a radical shift in perception, and truly feel after a life almost entirely made up of fear, I’m ready to fully commit to this text. Now that I am clearer about my true purpose in life (Writing, Teaching and Speaking as a Transformational Life Coach) I am open to this process. My previous careers as a performer and screenwriter, although essential to my path of development were not truly of relevance to me. Those “titles” for me were fear based and focused on exterior validation. I didn’t realize this until recently I had a breakthrough session with Intuitive Catalyst and author Becky Walsh which radically shifted my perception of things.; and made me wake up to what I truly believe is important. Perhaps, if I hadn’t recently experienced my own radical shift in perception, I wouldn’t be writing these words. In fact, I know I wouldn’t. Thank you Becky Walsh!

Every single spiritual teacher that I revere; Wayne Dyer, Marianne Williamson, Robert Holden, and so many more, refer to A Course in Miracles as being transformative to their spiritual evolution. So 2014 is the year for me to dive into the teachings.

I think a wonderful way to approach the teachings of this text without diving in head first, is to first watch Oprah’s interview with Marianne Williamson and then to read Marianne’s book A Return to Love, which in it’s day was a best seller, and to this day remains one of the most effective and powerful books ever written. I am also in the middle of reading Gabrielle Bernstein’s “Spirit Junkie” which also teaches the principles of A Course in Miracles, and is perfect for a young and contemporary audience. Starting with Oprah’s interview with Marianne however, is essential for anyone who believes that changing your thinking can change your life, and as Marianne said in that interview, “If you know what changes a heart, you know what changes the world”…that’s some inspiring stuff.

So as a suggestion for today, you might want to try this out.  Every hour try checking in with yourself, to see how you’re truly feeling. I love Martha Beck’s suggestion of asking yourself whenever walking by a mirror, “How you doing sweetie?” Are you feeling good or bad? Are you walking on the love path or the fear path? If you find yourself walking on the love path, that’s excellent, but if you’re on the fear path, you might want to say to yourself; “I’m willing to see this differently”.

Love from Claire xx
