My 7 Week Courses in Creative Performance kick off tomorrow in Newcastle “Acting Fundamentals” for Beginners/Intermediate and “Pasvolsky Studio”for Upper Intermediate/Advanced…but if you don’t live in Newcastle but are interested in the work I also have Skype classes/tuition and will be holding in person workshops in Sydney in early 2016. The purpose of my work is to introduce students, clients and participants to dynamic and soul shifting techniques, which are designed to radically shift individuals into a place of self empowerment, confidence and receptivity. It is not traditional Actor Training- it’s Creative Guidance.

In the Beginners Class, students work with Voice, Movement and Improvisation and focus on creating their own characters, characterisations and scenes. There is an emphasis on supportive performance and participants are often amazed at how quickly they can move into a place of self assurance, actualisation and creativity.

The Pasvolsky Studio focuses on a different “Master Teacher” or Practitioner each week, which is the emphasis of the learning. We then use that master teacher/practitioner or style as the basis of creating our own original content for performance. This all happens within the time frame of three hours.

This week in the studio our inspirational artist is Mike Leigh. We will look at the work, ethics, style and unique vision of Mike Leigh and then participate in exercises I have designed based on the improvisational techniques of ML. Students will create a character, based on somebody they know and then start improvisations/interviews with other ensemble members which will then develop into scenes and then into a performance.

New Year’s Manifesting- Live the life You Imagine

Here’s a short and lovely exercise to bring you happily into the New Year, focusing on the things you want to create in your life…

1. Get a piece of paper and divide it into three columns

2. In the first column write the heading “Things I’m leaving behind in 2014”. Write a list of whatever you don’t want in your life- behaviours , excess weight, toxic people etc you no longer need.

3. In the next column- write the heading “Things I’m bringing into 2015”- and write a list of about ten things that you do already or know will serve you- eg- Drinking filtered water every day, walking, meditating etc.

4. In the final column write the heading “Things I’m Manifesting in 2015”- Choose about four things and write them in the present tense as a powerful affirmation, for example, “I am at my optimal level of health- I’m at goal weight, eating healthy food every day and drinking lots of water. I am vibrantly energetic”… don’t choose too many things, and don’t choose things that are unrealistic. Think about manifesting things that are actually within your control and that you are able to co-create with source energy.

5. Finally, read all your lists- look at the comparison of the things that don’t serve you with the things you want more of/want to manifest. Now remove list one with a pair of scissors and shred it/burn it/ throw it away. That’s crap you don’t need anymore, and what you are left with are things that feed your soul- your “soul vitamins” and a list of manifestation affirmations! Bring on 2015!!!

2014; Your Best Year So Far

Here’s a fun exercise to do as we step into a new year.

Get a piece of paper and divide it into three columns. At the top of the page, write the title; “2014; My Best Year So Far”

* In column 1, write the title “What I’m Leaving in 2013”

* Come up with a list of ten things that aren’t working for you in your life right now; (number them down the column); examples might be over eating, complaining, one way friendships, watching bad TV, overspending, over eating etc.

* Then, in column 2, write the title “What I’m bringing to 2014); this list should be things that you’re doing now that are working for you. You may be doing these activities and behaviours in small doses, but you know that they are beneficial for your well being; the list might include; a meditation practice, drinking 2 litres of water per day, focusing on the present moment, eating lots of fruit and vegetables and reading inspiring texts (if you can have 7-10 things on your list, that’s great)

* Then finally, in column 3, write the title “What I wish to manifest”- write four statements that contain positivity and empowerment, examples might include; “I have boundless energy and am easily maintaining my goal weight; exercising daily and eating healthy food and drinking lots of water” and “I am thrilled to be financially abundant, doing wonderful work that serves others and utilizes all of my wonderful talents”

* After the lists are complete, take the first list and destroy it. Release those items that are not serving you and focus on what is working for you, what you want more of and what you want to happen in the upcoming year.
